PROJECT ENGINEER
Job Summary:

Project Engineer supports the project manager providing administrative and technical services in fields of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration. Along with job site project managers and superintendents, project engineers have responsibilities in project oversight and may be assigned to a particular section, subcontractor, or other facet(s) of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development of project plan as requested.
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager(s) in purchasing activities including scoping and take-offs.
  • Prepare and forward submittals. Confirm submittal complies with plans/specs.
  • Support’s development and updating of the project schedule and subcontractor detail schedules.
  • Monitor and expedite material deliveries ensuring all deliveries conform with the project schedule.
  • Administer subcontracts as assigned.
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in the coordination of drawings.
  • Draft change orders; perform scope take-off and estimate costs, and solicit prices from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in close-out of project; includes assembling manuals, warranties, miscellaneous documentation as required per project close-out for delivery to owner, and preparation final payment documents for subcontractors.
  • Participate/lead training sessions.
  • Act as point person for document management applications.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a degree in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years experience in a project engineer, or similar role in the construction industry. Experience with a general contractor preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract co-ordination, and general project administration.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of MicroSoft Project preferred, with others a plus.
  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player and reliable.
  • Interest and passion for building and the industry.
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT
Job Summary:

The Superintendent is the key role to plan, organize, and prepare the site logistics. Schedule all subcontractors to assure the most efficient sequencing of activities. Provide for all field activities related to a project including on-site field administration, supervision and technical management of all construction operations, supervision of assistants, foremen, subcontractors and other construction-related personnel. Provide quality control by studying contract documents and questioning all uncertain details. Continuously walk the job and inspect each trade’s work and compare work-in-place to the contract documents. Continuously search for problems and resolve them before the work is executed. Verify implementation of all corrections for non-conformance and punch list items. Ensure final product meets or exceeds contract documents and the customer’s needs and requirements within the construction scope and budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Technical Skills:

  • Develop, maintain and enforce a project site logistics and temporary facilities plan
  • Implement, maintain and enforce project site safety programs
  • Coordinate and manage all material deliveries and subcontracts
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of the scope of work for subcontractors and bid packages
  • Provide input to the Project Manager on field activities impacting the Change Order process
  • Develop schedules for the successful start-up and turnover of all systems to the client
  • Implement SWPPP measures and documentation
  • Implement street cleaning plan per AHJ
  • Assist Project Manager with the preparation of Project Status Report’s (PSR)
  • Possess knowledge of all documents associated with the project including plans, specifications, contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings and submittals
  • Maintain a complete and accurate set of working documents and As-Builts
  • Provide technical assistance to all members of the project team
  • Coordinate all field inspections and testing

Management Skills:

  • Develop, implement, maintain and enforce a project-specific quality control program to include all subcontractors
  • Monitor all job site control reporting measures
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings and document with meeting minutes
  • Prepare and maintain Master Schedule
  • Prepare and maintain two to four week look ahead schedules (pending size of project)
  • Coordinate the timely completion of all punch lists and work completion lists
  • Document all actions dealing with actual or possible claims/legal action
  • Ensure all requirements of insurance, labor relations, and EEO are met
  • Assist Project Manager in development of a General Conditions budget
  • Assist Project Manager as required in preparation of project documentation

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all (client, inspectors, architect, subcontractors, project team, various CWD departments)
  • Motivate and build teamwork/morale in the project team
  • Promote Far West Contractors values and goals with the project team, client and subcontractors

Position Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to: Five to ten years related commercial construction management experience. and five to ten years related commercial construction management experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project)
  • Proficient Micro Soft Project similar project scheduling software and be capable of maintaining the project schedule and developing 3-week look-ahead schedules and milestones
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of construction delivery systems, the construction administration processes, building trades, and technical aspects of construction including means and methods, materials, building systems, planning, scheduling and estimating
  • Proven leadership qualities, leading the team from design, preconstruction, and construction phases
  • Strong teambuilding skills, able to provide guidance, coaching and motivation in a challenging and autonomous work environment.
  • Results-oriented with a demonstrable track record of delivering various scale projects on time and on budget, meeting rigorous quality and safety standards, and ending with satisfied Clients
  • Flexible, team oriented, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Decisive and work well under pressure and deal effectively with unexpected issues
  • Completion of OSHA Ten-Hour Safety Course
  • Effective written and verbal language communication skills
  • Well developed and proven negotiating skills
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • First Aid/CPR certified
PROJECT ASSISTANT

Project Assistant shall be responsible for submitting and tracking RFIs and submittals, estimating assistance, schedule updates and various administrative tasks, in support of Project Superintendents, Project Managers and Estimators. Also may attend job walks and prepares notes. Microsoft Office skills required. Microsoft Project, Suretrack or Primavera P3 scheduling experience a plus.

LABORER
Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures
  • Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials
  • May assist with controlling traffic
  • Assist carpenters and other trades

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on commercial construction projects
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization
PROJECT MANAGER
Position Description

Leads, directs and coordinates the overall management of multiple projects.
Reports to Project Executive or Senior Project Manager. Provides excellent client service, contributes to growth of company, enhances own professional and personal skills, and meets assigned financial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project Superintendent in development of a project site logistics plan
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the owner contract and implementation of subcontractor contract requirements from start to finish.
  • Work with accounting and oversee the pay request process
  • Monitor project costs and Job Cost Report
  • Analyze and forecast quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Implement and monitor training of all staff personnel
  • Manage, coach and develop assigned staff
  • Monitor project labor
  • Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  • Review and approve material, forming system and equipment needs
  • Assist Estimating in bidding projects
  • Implement applicable safety, EEO and Affirmative Action programs
  • Lead the project’s quality process
  • Develop, schedule and lead project close-out processes
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, subcontractors and owners to represent core values
  • Implement all applicable Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs.
  • Confers with project team to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority within the context of the company development process
  • Keep management informed on progress of project and budget through regularly scheduled Operation Review Meetings

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management/Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Years of experience working on commercial, healthcare, science and technology and manufacturing projects.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Experienced dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Experience leading successful project team, including development of employee and maintaining relationships with external entities
  • Excellent organizational, team management, problem solving, motivational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a team and work independently
